In understanding how a gasket works,
it’s becomes important sometimes to understand why a gasket
fails. Over-tightening or under-tightening a gasket will cause
serious problems to a sanitary system.

ANATOMY OF A FAILED GASKET
An over-tightened gasket will:
• Extrude into the I.D. obstructing flow and collect
soil
• Extrude beyond the O.D.
• Crack, tear and rip and hold bacteria
• Become permanently deformed jeopardizing sealing surface
and product integrity
